Meet Emerson

On Tuesday morning, I got in a good run and then raced down to Hampstead to meet my friend, Emily's, newest addition. Emerson was just 4 days old, and I couldn't wait to tackle my first newborn shoot. I must say, the photos I've seen online, make newborn photography look so easy. Just wait until the baby sleeps, and then pose them accordingly, right? Well, it definitely wasn't that simple! I guess I've forgotten just how floppy newborns are:)

Nevertheless, we managed to get some cute shots of Miss Emerson with her new family, especially with her sister and two brothers! Here are several of my favorites:

I brought some blocks in case we wanted to use them as a prop. We didn't end up needing them, but they certainly entertained Elle while we took the pictures!

Em and her two babies!

Rob got some new ink before leaving Afghanistan (in time to see Emerson born!), so I wanted a shot of her with it

After taking several pictures, Emerson needed a milk break. It worked perfectly, because it made her super sleepy!

Can't you just feel how much this big brother LOVES his little sister?!

You have no idea how difficult it was to get all these feet lined up:)

The idea was to get a picture of Emerson with everyone's hands on her. I love that Brady, the second youngest, was poking her belly button in this one!

Emily and Rob, thank you for trusting me to capture this very important moment in your lives. Emerson is absolutely beautiful and now you have a perfectly complete family! Congratulations to all of you!

Camden's 6-Month Photos

On Monday morning, we headed down to Sneads Ferry to take pictures for a friend's (and fellow Stroller Warrior) 6-month old little boy. She warned me that he wasn't too happy, but we decided to go ahead with the shoot anyway. I'm so glad we did, because he was a great subject! I think the only time I heard him cry was when I tried to sit him upright and he tipped over and bonked his head on the floor! (Sorry about that Lindsey!!)

As we were setting up to get started, Lindsey told me about Camden's newborn shoot, and I was super nervous about making sure these pictures came out for her family. Luckily, I managed to get some good shots, especially when his sister, Sydney, joined in! Here are a bunch of my favorites!

How adorable are these two?!

Seriously, those eyes?!! They are amazing!!

The Jernigan Family at the Beach

On Sunday evening, I ventured down to Surf City to meet my fellow Stroller Warrior, Analisa, and her family to capture a few pictures for them. Analisa has been such a strong member of the running club, coming up with great ideas to improve the overall experience for all the ladies!

I got to the scheduled meeting place and sat waiting in my car for them. While I waited (in the wrong place:), I snapped this pic:

Soon after, I got a text that they were already under the pier on the beach (where we were supposed to meet), so I grabbed my gear and headed down. She has two very energetic kiddos, so I decided to get some posed shots first and then let them run wild. Luckily, they were cooperative and we managed to get some good pictures. Here are some of them:

Love this shot of mom and daughter!

Jackson was showing me what a velociraptor looks like:)
